Telekon

Gary Numan – Telekon (45th Anniversary Expanded Edition) marks the definitive vinyl celebration of one of the most influential electronic albums of the post-punk era.

Originally released in 1980, Telekon was Gary Numan’s second solo album and his third consecutive UK #1, completing what Numan himself has described as the “machine phase” of his early career alongside Replicas and The Pleasure Principle. While those earlier releases leaned heavily on synthesiser minimalism, Telekon expanded the palette — weaving guitars, strings and lush analogue textures into its stark, futuristic sound. The result was darker, colder and more cinematic, and hugely influential on generations of electronic and industrial artists. Trent Reznor famously cited Telekon as daily listening during the creation of Pretty Hate Machine.

This 45th Anniversary Expanded Edition has been newly remastered by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road and pressed across two black vinyl LPs. A deep dive into Numan’s archives uncovered a wealth of previously unheard material, including four bonus tracks exclusive to this edition. Highlights include the never-before-released track “Like A B-Film”, alongside early versions of Please Push No More, Aircrash Bureau and I’m An Agent, offering a rare glimpse into the album’s creative development.

The release also features revised artwork by long-time collaborator Michael Speed and includes a replica of the original 1980 12-page Telekon tour booklet, making this an essential archival edition for fans and collectors alike.

Bold, uncompromising and forward-thinking, Telekon remains a cornerstone of electronic music history — and this expanded anniversary pressing finally gives the album the vinyl presentation it deserves.
